Alexander V. MERTENS

Born on July, 20, 1965, PhD, President of the International Institute of Business (IIB) in Kyiv, Ukraine.


After graduation from the Kyiv National Taras Shevchenko University (1989) with speciality economist-mathematician (summa cum laude) and completing PhD in Economics (1993) he worked as Associate Professor of Economics and Finance of the Kyiv National Taras Shevchenko University and the National University of Kyiv-Mohyla Academy (since 1993), CEO of the investment consulting services firm Kyiv Investment Agency JSC (1994 - 2002). executive vice-president of the OLMA Ukraine Investment Company (1995).


Since 1998 he works for IIB as Chair of the Investment Management department, Academic Vice-President (since 2002) and President (since 2006).


Visiting Professor of the University of New Brunswick (Canada, 2005) and Leon Kozminski Academy of Entrepreneurship (Poland, 2004, 2005).


Author of the textbooks Investments: lectures on modern finance (1997) and Microeconomics for public policy analysis (2005), articles on corporate finance, valuation, investments, asset-liability management, risk management and financial markets' development in refereed academic journals and business magazines. Consulting experience in business valuation for M&A, private equity investments, strategic investment and financing decisions, portfolio management.
